Experience:

HypSA Hydrogen Plant

Redrawn director Huw Dent (Mechanical Engineer) was the lead detailed design and commissioning engineer of the Hydrogen Park South Australia electolysis plant. HypSA is an Australian first to deliver a renewable hydrogen blend to customers on the existing natural gas network.

Huw was responsible for leading a mechanical engineering team to deliver detailed design, construction support and commissioning supervision for a new demonstration hydrogen production facility in Tonsley SA. This innovative and industry leading project required the team to develop new skills and technical knowledge whilst delivering a safe and compliant design. This project won several awards withing the state, nationally and internationally.

Nation Leading Hydrogen Commissioning Experience

Hydrogen Blending Skid

ATCO, an Australian owner/operator was adapting their hydrogen generation facility to allow injection into the local natural gas network. Redrawn director Huw Dent was the Project Manager and led the mechanical design effort for the new equipment required to condition and control the flow of hydrogen into the gas network.

Brownfield Hydrogen Blending

Hydrogen Refuelling Station

A long-term oil and gas company developed the concept design for a medium scale (10MW to 50MW) hydrogen refuelling station, including liquid refuelling. Huw project managed and led the mechanical design for the equipment selection and general layout of the plant ahead of an Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funding application and development approval.

Future Fuels and Carbon Neutral Industry

Redrawn has been collaborating with H2U, The Hydrogen Utility to develop green hydrogen and green ammonia projects across Australia. These projects have significant export scale and will be world class assets leading the energy transition forward. By utilising our existing hydrogen and heavy industrial expertise, Redrawn is helping to establish infrastructure that will support a decarbonised future for the global community.

Expert support for an emerging hydrogen supply chain

Siemens Energy, Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and GeoPura are developing a £3.5 million ammonia cracker prototype in Newcastle, UK. Redrawn Director Huw Dent led a team to design the ammonia cracker vessel to deliver 200 kg of high-purity, PEM-suitable hydrogen fuel per day, and is based on Fortescue’s “Metal Membrane Technology” (MMT) purification process. This technology has been under development by FFI and CSIRO.

Green Ammonia Design

Jemena constructed a biogas treatment plant within Sydney Water’s, Malabar Wastewater Treatment Plant. Redrawn director and mechanical engineer Huw Dent led the mechanical design for the biogas package integration, and balance of plant equipment (from Concept through to Issued For Construction detailed design).

CO2 Carbon Capture Plant

Air Liquide integrated a new CO2 carbon capture facility with an existing thermal power station in South Australia. Complex brownfield modifications were required to supply the new CO2 plant with power, steam, exhaust gases and cooling water. Redrawn director Huw Dent was responsible for delivering the detailed design for a 300m long steam piping network connecting 4 boilers to the new CO2 plant. The piping operated at 500oand 18MPag. This was a high-risk installation with complex analytical requirements, requiring consideration of material selection, corrosion mechanisms, flexibility and restrain analysis, thermal expansion analysis and process risks.

Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES)

Redrawn engineers have existing knowledge and research into CO2 Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) systems. Redrawn engineers have previously completed design for compressed air LDES systems. Additionally, Redrawn engineers have existing knowledge and design experience in CO2 piping systems, CO2  tanks, CO2 corrosion mechanisms, steam boilers, steam piping systems and rotating equipment (including steam turbines, gas turbines and compressors).

Hydrogen Refuelling Station

The Viva Energy, Geelong Refinery successfully received Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funding for a New Energy Service Station. Redrawn Director Huw Dent led the mechanical design of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) deliverables for the Hydrogen Refueling Station.
