Origin Energy - Turbine Lifting Beam

Origin Energy tasked Redrawn with designing a new specialised lifting beam to facilitate the expected maintenance of their gas turbines. Redrawn completed mechanical design, structural engineering and drafting works prior to fabrication. The beam was designed to lift both the compressor section and the turbine section of the rotor (55T combined lift).

Osborne Cogeneration – Fuel Gas Module Compliance

The ATCO / Origin Energy, Osborne gas fired power station Fuel Gas Module was fabricated in the United States. Redrawn Director and instrument engineer James Chervatin inspected all existing electrical equipment within the module to identify non-compliances with the Australian Hazardous Area Standards and detail the findings in a verification dossier. James was also responsible for producing and tendering a Scope of Work document specifying all Hazardous Area remediation works required to achieve compliance.

APA, Orbost Gas Plant, Sole Gas Development Project

APA upgraded the Orbost Gas Plant to process gas supplied from the subsea SOLE gas field. As part of the upgrade new gas generators, switchboards and plant equipment were installed. Redrawn Director James was responsible for the design and procurement of a Power Management System to monitor all plant loads, provide circuit breaker control and perform load shedding of ‘non-essential’ plant loads if required. James specified all panel components, designed the control system, specified the PLC logic and produced a functional description document. Additionally, James conducted the testing and commissioning of the Power Management System.

Santos – Moomba Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)

Redrawn Director Huw Dent led the mechanical detailed design effort for retrofit of a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) to an existing gas turbine to improve energy efficiency within the hydrocarbon processing facility. This highly complex brownfield integration project was delivered to a fast-track schedule, requiring creative design solutions and high value engineering analysis. The scope extended to include construction and commissioning support. Huw’s highlight of the project was being able to empower and support junior staff to deliver some impressive design outcomes without needing to step in and take over the design.

Origin Energy – Quarantine Power Station Exhaust System Repair

Redrawn’ Director Huw Dent delivered a highly collaborative solution to an existing exhaust system on a 125 MW gas turbine that had experienced in-service damage. This damage was expected to lead to imminent failure with significant consequence to the turbine, power station and state power grid. Huw worked with a local fabricator and the client to develop an innovative repair solution and retrofit strategy to align with an upcoming outage. This was a complex analytical design solution that would not have succeeded without an aligned team effort from all stakeholders.
